Leg Taper
Sock Wizard V2 PC and Sock Wizard Mac now include leg tapering. This feature was at the top of the user wish-list.
This feature not only allows knitters to generate patterns for knee socks but also taper the leg on a crew sock for those with a narrow foot.
However, applying this option to a crew sock may not be immediately obvious to the user.
To create a tapered leg on a crew sock, go to the size tab and choose Knee….(luckily Sock Wizard doesn’t make too many judgements on length). Once you have chosen Knee, you will see that there are two circumference input boxes, one for the top of the leg (A) and one for the ankle (B).
Adjust the length of the leg input box (C) to a standard crew length. In this case, I changed the number to 6. Added to the cuff length, the leg length is 7.5″. Then change the circumference at the top of the sock (A) and the circumference at the ankle (B) to your desired measurements.
That’s all there is to it.
